Help us fight the Performance Tax!

blu 102.9 and its employees are concerned about the new Performance Tax being proposed in Congress by the major record labels.
The music we play on this station is currently taxed, and we pay yearly royalties to SESAC, BMI, and ASCAP. This new proposed tax would create an even heavier financial burden on radio stations, all to line the pockets of record labels. Most recording artists would never see compensation from this taxes.
This tax is really a "bailout" for companies whose short-sighted business practices have never really benefited their own artists, who are leaving the major labels in droves so they can take control of their own careers.
We do our best to play music from national, regional, and local recording artists, but this new radio tax could cost stations like ours millions of dollars, and force many small market companies out of business. It could very well mean the death of local radio.
Please join us in this effort to stop the foreign-owned record labels from instituting even more taxes on radio stations like ours. Please, contact your local Congressional representative using the information below to let them you know you oppose the Performance Royalty Act.
Thanks for your support in continuing to keep local independent radio alive!
